Markings:

The copper support is planar and stable, with some faint undulations near the edges, most noticeably in the lower left corner. The copper sheet is adhered on the reverse to a backing board with velvet edges. The paint surface appears to be in overall beautiful condition and the image reads well beneath a crisp varnish. Aside for some slight oxidation in the blue of the Virgin's lower cloak, the colors remain vibrant and the details remain well preserved, such as the angels' wings and basket of flowers in the lower left corner. Inspection under UV reveals only scattered small cosmetic spots of retouching throughout, with a few in the shadows of the angel's red cloak at lower left, some scattered in the architectural background, and a few very small spots in some of the figures. A line of retouching is visible in the lower left corner. This painting is ready to hang. Offered in a decoratively carved gilt wood frame.

Condition:

framed: 19 7/8 by 17 1/4 in.; 50.8 by 43.5 cm.
